Summary of HOship so far..

Oops neglected my blog for nearly a century now.. settling quite ok into NUH paediatrics by now .. flying off to Japan for 10 days during my December leave to revisit those miserable days of memorising kanji over lunch and rushing from Chinese High to MOELC for hours of Japanese grammar zzz..

Lemme see where my life has been :
May : first month in TTSH - bad bad memories of being accused of missing an NSTEMI (horrible) ..
June : settling in nicely .. meeting great melancholic MOs like Joanne Kua heehee.. crazy ward though in Ward 5A .. great nurses
July : Commencement 2007 !! Ward 7B : a little less hectic than Ward 5A nevertheless.. great working with Dr. Jackie Tan ..
August : WOW i am the inaugural Renal Medicine HO .. first ever in TTSH .. wat honour, but what a sucky ward !! The staff just aren't capablefor managing the complexities of renal patients and the phelbotomist is really a &*(&(*(&)+ ! really really enjoyable time working with the renal MOs and the bubbly renal team -- saw a lot , did a lot this time, but things got really routine after some time .. infected perm caths --> pestering cardio for 2DEs --> pestering radiology to insert a new one --> assisting with femoral lines --> culturing and culturing .. IV cloxacillin .. vancomycin .. zz.. ordering dialysis regimens .. malfunctioning AVFs .. A and V ports going bust .. zz .. resuscitating patients that go boom* into pulmonary edema .. managing DKA patients by myself in the middle of the night *(^(*(&&).. and my god .. doing the summaries for these patients..

- hiatus : went Perth for a week and got stalked by some aborigines there -

September : started in NUH paediatrics with renal medicine again .. felt like a chapter 2 of my renal training, namely peritoneal dialysis 101. basically spending morning after morning chasing UFs , inching and inching up the fill volume (zzz..) getting inspired by certain patients who jump, perform somersaults and calisthetics to improve their UF .. if seeing millions of infected PCs in TTSH wasn't suffice, there were equally troublesome cases of peritonitis here with PD cell counts swinging up and down like the dow jones index.

Haem-Onco next 2 weeks : VERY hectic, but had some great rapport with the families .. quite touched that only some of them would let me take the bloods from. great team as well. definitely learnt a lot here too.

October : back to general ward 48 .. had a great time working with martha and c.ho .. work was hectic yeah occasionally but there was just excellent camaderie amongst us and there was always laughter every morning about some of the weird antics of certain patients/parents.

WHEW. and on top of all of that, by some strange force of nature, in a place i never never ever expected to happen, i fell in love with someone. haha i myself have no idea how it happened .. but it just subtly happened day by day .. haven't had this kinda good feeling in a long time.. hope things work out for us ! girls~ so sorry but my heart is sold ! :-P be happy for me ya ?

Nice to hear from you again.

Seems like you are coping well as a HO, despite your many complains.

Congrats on finally finding your love.
