Boxing Day with DVDs at Queen Swinemadala

It was the usual post-trip blues , which I whiled away by waking up extra late today. Went to Swine's house to watch DVDs with Kossie ... thankfully 2 Canadian pizzas were served for the price of 8 bucks per person. There was the usual heated exchanges between Suin's sister and Suin over the use of the DVD player , in which heated Korean swear words could be heard muttering over the background. It's no surprise that being guests in the house, Suin's parents finally intervened and the Korean princess stormed into her room like a geisha on steroid withdrawal.

Suin screened a Brothers Grimm DVD, which seemed so what odd and macabre , especially with all the distorted and convoluted allusions of classic fairy tales of Snow White and Hansel/Gretel. I was nearly falling asleep when I saw the scene of a giant gingerbread man ingesting a virgin female , and another scene of a horse spewing spider-webs and swallowing toddlers. What a weird way to end the Christmas season.

We settled down through half-way of Bram Stoker's Dracula .. I just so love Francis Ford Coppola's version. I have practically watched this show in its entirety like 10-11 times , and every time I am so bowled over the gothic romance and macabre atmosphere by this show. It stays almost true to the original Dracula tale, albeit a slightly more romantic aspect of the Count. The soundtrack Annie Lennox - Love Song by a Vampire is also very sensual and moving , and it's a song to hear in the quiet of the evening...
